Why Cryotherapy?

At Lux Tan & Cryo we help clients of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles experience the amazing benefits of cryotherapy treatments. Whether you’re an athlete, busy professional, mom or dad, student or just someone who wants to look and feel their very best, we’re here for you!

What is Cryotherapy?

Also known as cold therapy, cryotherapy uses very low temperatures to promote pain relief and wellness.

Think of cryotherapy as the modern equivalent of an “ice bath” – with more benefits, less discomfort, and no hassle! Our trained cryotherapy technicians use high-tech equipment to produce extremely low temperatures using liquid nitrogen vapor.

Treatments take just 2-3 minutes! Locations in Lake Oswego, Beaverton, and West Linn.

Cryotherapy Can:

Reduce Muscle Pain & Inflammation

Provide a Powerful Energy Rush from Endorphins

Relieve Pain from Arthritis & Autoimmune Diseases

Aid in Recovery from Intense Workouts

How Does Cryotherapy Work?

Reduce Pain, Boost Energy, and Accelerate Recovery

Extremely cold temperatures stimulate receptors in your body, prompting your brain to send messages that result in vasoconstriction. Blood rushes from the extremities to the core of the body where it oxygenates and enriches the body with nutrients.

After your cryo treatment ends, blood is pumped vigorously (vasodilation) around the body, resulting in the rush of energy our clients love.

Additionally, depending on your diet and fitness level, you’ll burn up to 500-800 calories in the hours after your treatment.

On average our clients do cryotherapy treatments 2-4 times every week. The more often you expose your body to this treatment the better results.

-Reduces Pain and Inflammation!
-Burns Calories and Boosts Energy!
-Recover Faster from Athletics or Injuries!

Is Cryotherapy Safe?

Yes! Your body is safely cooled by nitrogen vapor surrounding your body. All treatments are conducted and monitored by an experienced and trained cryo technician. Be aware cryotherapy is not recommended for those with heart conditions and other medical issues. Before your first treatment, our staff will review a complete list of contraindications.

How Long Does Cryo Take?

At most, our cryotherapy treatments last for 3 minutes. Because of the intense cold therapy, many of our clients start out with a shorter treatment and work up to the full 3 minutes over time.

When Will I Start to See Results?

You’ll likely feel a powerful rush of endorphins (the body’s mood elevator) as soon as your cryo treatment finishes. You may also feel immediate:

  • Relief from joint and muscle pain
  • Decreased inflammation
  • Improved flexibility

These effects may last for hours or even days.

Many clients also notice improved sleep in the days following their treatment. Improvements in skin texture and reduction in cellulite and weight loss will take longer and may require a series of treatments for maximum results.

Is One Treatment Enough?

Every whole body cryotherapy session is beneficial and you’ll likely experience immediate positive results. However, research has shown maximum benefits of cryotherapy are seen over a period of 2-3 weeks, with 3-4 sessions per week.
